FAQ

FAQ

  • How much do you charge for a service?

We charge a base rate of £30 an hour plus any parts needed for the repair. It is difficult to estimate the cost without seeing your machine first. One thing we don’t do is undertake repairs to expensive items without gaining your permission first.

  • How often should I service my machine?

It is dependant on the usage and materials sprayed.

  • How often should I change tip?

Again, dependent on the materials sprayed. Good practice is to check the fan pattern of a new tip, then check at intervals. The price of a tip is soon recovered in paint saving by net over applying.

  • How do I clean my machine, and how often?

It depends on your application and the material you are spraying (check the MSDS from manufacturer,) It is possible to leave the material in the pump (not under pressure, with trigger locked) overnight for quick start the next day. For most applications it is advisable to clean down after use - using recommended cleaning fluid.

  • What technique should I use when spraying?

Avoid arching and try to keep the gun parallel to the substrate.

  • Can you service on-site?

Yes, depending on your location of course. We do find workshop service to be better for both parties as we can ensure we have all the correct parts, tools and test facilities available to give you the best service.

  • How long are your shipping times?

We aim to ship every order with next day delivery. Please be aware that in some occasions an item will not be in stock, which would mean ordering the item in before sending out to a customer. If this is the case we will notify you accordingly.

  • The packings on my airless machine have worn out after not long doing them, why?

It is possible the piston or cylinder is worn.
Questions to ask are; are the packings being lubricated on a regular basis? Has the pump been run dry?

  • How do I unblock a tip?

    • Airless and air-assisted TriA reversible tips or twist tips: it is simply a matter of turning the tip through 180 degrees, triggering the gun to a waste bucket, turn the tip back 180 degree to spray position. Check the fan.
    • Flat tips must be removed from the depressurised gun and cleaned using a cleaning needle / Broach, brush and airline to remove the blockage backwards out the tip.

If you experiencing constant blocking, check filters in pump and gun for splits

  • What are the advantages of spraying compared to the traditional method of roller & brush?

Speed of application and even thickness of coating. Adhesion to substrate.

  • My pump is not holding pressure, why is this?

If you're not holding pressure while not spraying: look for leaks, if not evident check the material is not returning via the pressure relief valve. Check the packings. If the fan is collapsing while spraying check for a worn tip
